Namibia, your way.
Self-drive, guided or fly-in. We plan tailor-made trips around how you actually want to see Namibia.
Why Rooikop

Hildegard is Namibian. Tom is French and has called Namibia home for more than ten years. We see the country quite differently, and that helps when we’re planning your trip. Hildegard grew up here, so she knows how long that drive actually feels. Tom still remembers arriving and seeing it all for the first time. We use both perspectives when we plan your route.
We plan every trip ourselves. We ask what you want to see, how you like to travel and how much time you have. Then we work out a route that makes sense on the map and that you’ll actually enjoy.
Once everything is booked, your whole trip goes into the Rooikop Journey Companion. If you need us while you’re on the road, you can reach us directly.

Local knowledge
We know the roads, the distances and the places worth stopping for. The shortest route isn’t always the best one.

Planned around you
You tell us what you’re into, and we build from there. Wildlife, hiking, desert, food, photography, or a bit of everything.

Direct contact
From the first email to the day you fly home, you deal with Hildegard and Tom. Nobody in between.

Here while you travel
Once you’re on the road, we’re still a message away. If plans change, just get in touch.

Where to go

Kalahari
Two and a half hours south of Windhoek, and a nice slow start to a trip – red dunes covered in grass, oryx, springbok and meerkats.

Sossusvlei & the Namib
Dunes over 300 metres high, and a dead, centuries-old forest at their feet. Climb Big Daddy, or see it all from a hot air balloon at dawn.

NamibRand
The largest private reserve in Southern Africa, with fairy circles, dark skies, and a whole valley often to yourself.

Swakopmund & the Coast
Cool Atlantic air, old German streets, and the best activity list in the country – try the Living Desert tour.

Damaraland
Granite mountains, desert-adapted elephant, and rock engravings at Twyfelfontein at least 2,000 years old.

Etosha
A salt pan so big you can see it from space. Find a waterhole and let Namibia come to you.

Skeleton Coast
The San called it “the land God made in anger.” Remote, foggy, best reached by small plane.

Zambezi
Namibia turns green here – rivers, hippo, buffalo and more than 400 bird species.

Fish River Canyon & the South
One of the world’s largest canyons, a diamond ghost town, and wild horses near Aus.
How you can travel
Self-drive
Namibia has some of the best roads in Africa. We plan the route and tell you honestly how long each drive takes.
Guided
Your guide handles the driving and logistics. Available in English, French, German or Spanish.
Fly-in
Scheduled flights link Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha – the best way to see more when time is short.
Fly-in + self-drive
Fly over the longer distances, then pick up a car and explore the next region yourself.
Fly-in + guided
Fly into a remote lodge, then travel with a private guide who knows the area.
Hiking
From an early-morning walk in the NamibRand to five days through Fish River Canyon.
Adventure
Sandboarding, quad biking, kayaking with seals, skydiving, 4×4 routes and tracking rhino on foot.
Tailor-made
Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll build the route around it.

Your trip, with you
Everything you need for the road.
Once your trip is booked, we put everything into the Rooikop Journey Companion. Each day shows your accommodation, booking details, directions, activity times and our tips for places to stop along the way.
It works offline, which matters out here, because there are long stretches with no signal. If you’ve got an early start, set a reminder so you’re not checking the time all night.

Thinking about Namibia?
You don’t need to have the route figured out yet. Tell us when you’re coming, who you’re travelling with and what you’d like to see. We’ll help you work out the rest.
